Colo-Rectal

Colon Disorders

Colon cancer is commonly treated with surgery. If the cancer is found early, it can be removed with a colonoscope, but the most common procedure is the colon resection, where the tumor is removed and the colon is reconnected so that it remains in one piece.

Inflammation

Inflammatory bowel diseases, such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s Disease, can be debilitating and require surgery. A variety of procedures offered at Crescent City Surgical Centre can be used to treat these conditions, including colostomy and ileostomy.

Fissure / Fistula Related Procedures

An anal fissure is a small tear in the lining of the anus. It is often caused by constipation, but can also be caused by severe diarrhea or inflammation. A fistula is a tiny channel or tract that develops due to inflammation or infection, or due to certain illnesses such as Crohn’s Disease. Surgeries for both conditions can be done quickly and usually only require a brief recovery period.
